If you follow our Vlog, you know that Mads has just finished preschool and is starting her first week of Transitional Kindergarten (TK)!! If you’re not quite sure what TK is, simply put, it’s a bridge that spans the gap between Preschool and Kindergarten for students who aren’t age appropriate for a Kinder program.
For many school districts, age appropriate is at least 5 years old at the start of the new school year. Unfortunately, this means parents with students who would be 5 just a month or two into the semester are at an impasse. Do you send them to another year of Preschool or do start their education late to prevent a delay in continuing on?
With the addition of TK, many students are able to continue to learn and grow in a structured environment and in some cases, with the help of well trained educators, move onto 1st Grade with similarly aged students.
So far our experience in TK has been enjoyable, the hiccups that come with online learning aside. Mads is already starting to seek opportunities to learn and is participating in her class very well.
With preschool, we had very few opportunities to see Madison in the classroom. So far, it has been wonderful to see how engaged she is by learning and how well she interacts with her other classmates. Though distance learning is difficult, it’s nice to see how Madison is meeting the challenge.
But more on online learning later, do you have any experience with Transitional Kindergarten?
It is good that online learning is reaching out to people so young as well as older students.
